Studentindia.com Wins Manthan AIF 2006

The four-year long efforts of www.studentindia.com have finally paid off as the site bags the ‘Manthan AIF Award 2006.’ The American Indian Foundation and Planet Finance India’s ‘Manthan AIF Award 2006’ will be conferred on the founder of www.stundentindia.com and Kharghar resident, R K Mahapatra on August 5, 2006 in New Delhi.

The winners will attend the international conference on “E-content and Sustainability’ following which the award presentation ceremony will be held in New Delhi.
“ The site will be presented an award (not revealed in the confirmation email) in e-education category for coming out with an innovative website wherein students’ career- related matter is availed of free of cost. This is the outcome of our four -year- long hard team work with dedication.” exulted R K Mahapatra while talking to New Bombay Plus. On the website’s goal and objectives, he said, “Three phase rule wherein expectation of parents, teachers and friends are addressed.

Innovation is given to the service sector where invisibility is developed into visibility. Gradual process of research, content shaping and choosing one among twenty concepts took a long time to define the limits of website.”

He is also certain that website will get a much needed fillip from this award. Says he, “Now, www.studentindia.com will get selected for World Summit Award 2006.” Mahapatra also acknowledged the efforts of his wife Lopa Mahapatra who helped him in setting up the website.

Manthan Award
Launched on October 10, 2004, Manthan AIF Award is conferred in recognition with the best practices in ‘E-content and Creativity’ at the grass root level. Last year (2005), 27 initiatives received the award in eight categories out of the total 104 nominations received. This year, the categories have been increased to twelve. The categories: e-business, e-entertainment, e-culture, e –learning, e-health, e-governnance, e-science, e-inclusion, e-education, e-news, e-localisation and e-environment. A jury of 16 members consisting of eminent experts in various walks of life like academia, government, civil society etc. evaluate the nominations and finalise the winners. Manthan AIF Award 2005 winners have previously got automatic nominations in the World Summit Award 2005 held in Tunis.
