Umang the annual Inter-collegiate festival of N.M College, is graced by the esteemed presence of over 80 colleges from Mumbai and a few from outstation too. Umang which is only 8 years old attracts over 32,000 walk-ins and has already been given the tag of an irresistible adventure. 250 Umangites work indefatigably for months together with cheerful alacrity, which swings the pendulum of success in its favour.
Umang consists of over 60 events which test the all-round dexterity of college students. We boast of Fashion shows, model hunts, Umang Idol, quizzes, JAMs etc. War of the Djs is a musical extravaganza which sets the house on fire. The USP of the festival are unique events like Mock Parliament, Mock Court and Mock Stock Exchange which gives the participates a taste of the real deal. But the act that is the cynosure of Umang and which easily takes the cake is the Pronite. Pronite is a night in which eminent celebrities, bands, vocalists perform and enthrall the audience with their magic. Last year, we had the band STRINGS flying here all the way from Pakistan to perform and as expected; the audience was left screaming for more.
On days, Umang is a recipe for ultimate adventure. While the informal games add tang to the recipe, cyber and outdoor games contribute a spice that caters to the insatiable desire of the gaming freaks. The Fine Arts section showcases the limitless creativity and talent of the budding artists. The theme gives a direction to portray art in its pulchritudinous forms. The food section comprises of several food stalls, which provide a treat for your taste buds. The Grandeur and sumptuosity of the food section really brings home the bacon for Umang and makes it a food connoisseurs paradise.
Umang The Cow, our official mascot accentuates the fact Acceptance is the death of Ambition and that we should always look to strive for MOO-RE. The extra emphasizes that we should reach out for more and that creativity and ambition can never be stymied. It is not only a mascot, but also an inspiration for all us Umangiites. Umang, now transformed into one of the biggest events in Mumbai, is going to be held this year from the 15th to the 19th of August. Thus, we invite every one to come take a ride to a land of limitless creativity. Let boundaries be only in cricket was once said by one of our Umang Chairpersons and so we are all-set (yet again) to make Umang every collegians Utopia!!
