Bengal finds mention
in our epics coming to recorded history ,King sasanka was one of the
most important kings who ruled Bengal during the 7th century.Other
important dynasties of Bengal Include those of Palas and the
Senas.After a partition of India East Bengal became a part of Pakistan and the rest, the
Indian portion of Bengal , came to be known as west Bengal .The merger of native settlement begun which ended with
it's final reorganisation in 1956(as per recommendations of the states
reorganisation Act,1956)when some Bengali speaking area's of the
neighboring state were transferred to West Bengal.
