History |

Nagaland was Constituted by the
union government in September 1962,It comprises the former Naga Hills
districts of Assam and the former Tuesang Frontier division of the
North-East Frontier Agency; This had been made a centrally administered
area in 1957, administered by president through the governor of Assam.
In January 1961 the area was renamed and given the status of the state
of Indian union which was officially inaugurated on December 1,1963
