History

King of Ashoka first of all ruled over ujjain.A Sizeable portion of central India was part  of the Gupta Empire(300-500 AD)The Muslim came in to central India in the beginning of 11th century. Central India was also the part of mughal empire.in the 18th century maratha's were on the ascendant in central India but later on small states started coming in to existance. These small states became the cause of perpetuation of british power in the country .Madhya Pradesh came in to being on november 1,1956.The state Lost it's distinction of being the largest state area wise after creation of Chhattisgarh. Rajasthan Now replaces Madhya Pradesh as the largest state in area.
