| The popular video-sharing website YouTube has announced the launch of its local Indian version Youtube.in. Google?s desi version of YouTube is sure to send jitters down the competition?s spine with its localized home page plus search functions.
An initiative that is set to benefit students, YouTube India is reaching directly to Indian students, as Google India has tied up with Indian Institute of Technology for uploading classroom lectures for free.
"Companies like YouTube or an agency which has a large bandwidth and storage is helping us for free for distribution and disseminations and it is an enormous cost savings for us," said Dr Mangala Krishnan, Professor, IIT, Chennai.

| The Association of Business Executives (ABE), an international examining body and provider of Business and Management qualifications, launched its British qualifications programmes for India in Chandigarhon April 4.
Mr. Kevin McLaven, First Secretary British Council, openly conveyed his pleasure of welcoming ABE to India and discussed the predominant role British Education obtains in the world. The British Council co-hosted the event with ABE which was attended by more than 150 people.

| Chennai (PTI): Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd on Monday announced the inauguration of a technology lab it has set up at the city-based Indian Institute of Technology on Monday.
Microsoft is investing Rs 90 lakh initially in Microsoft Windows Technologies Lab that will harness innovation through research and provide a platform for faculty members and students to leverage it for a variety of research and training, Prof T A Gonsalves, Head, Department of Computer Science Education, IIT-M, told reporters during the inauguration.

The degree of four-year duration has been in the subjects of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Fishery, Home Science, Sericulture, Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Marketing, Banking and Cooperation, Biotechnology and Commercial Agriculture and Business Management.

| Year by year, the number of CAT takers are increasing. For CAT 07, held on November 18, 2008, the reported number of CAT applicants was over 2.3 lakhs.
Considering this trend, IIMs are planning to make some modifications to the CAT process. But online testing is yet to get a nod.
According to the recent clarification published on CAT website ( www.catiim.in ), in view of increasing number of candidates, IIMs are considering various alternatives for modifying the process of conducting CAT, if necessary. Online testing is one of those alternatives. However, IIM-A says that the proposals are at the preliminary stage of discussion

| New Delhi, (PTI): Aspirants for admission to prestigious law schools in the country will now have to appear for the Common Law Admission Test, being introduced by Bangalore-based National Law School of India University.
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), on the lines of CAT that is meant for admission to six IIMs and 111 other MBA schools, will also be used by several other law schools for admitting candidates.
