Presenting for the first time ever at Malhar… Amateur Nite
– a platform for pure talent combined with cheers and applause
making it a gala attraction at Malhar 2006. Open exclusively to
college students, Amateur Nite is a ‘not to be missed’
opportunity for those hidden nightingales to gift the audience a
voice they will never forget.
The ticket to this opulent extravaganza will be the audition that
will be held between 17th and 21st of July in the Xavier’s
campus. This fusion of the Indian and Western will be a chance for
the college bands and singers to flood the signature First Quadrangle
of St. Xavier’s, leaving the audience mesmerized…
A Mecca for the creatively inclined, the Craft Bazaar Workshop will
witness no holds barred creativity. The streets of this ‘Bazaar’
will be crammed not with vendors, but with professionals sharing
their genius, from block printing to screen printing, from pottery
to lamasa. The 40s of Xavier's will prove to be the perfect venue
for this day-long workshop scheduled for the 13th of August. So
come, be a part of this redefinition of creativity and learning…
LA presents the ever-popular Film Festival. From drama to movies,
from fraudulent conspiracies to eye-openers of real life, this emporium
of creativity will push the limits of how a simple message can be
flamboyantly portrayed to the general public. Not confined to our
country borders, international film makers too make their mark at
this festival.

“BROADWAY COMES TO MALHAR”
“Moulin Rouge on Broadway” is a new introduction adding
to the colour at MALHAR’06.
Participants get an opportunity to enact a scene from any Broadway
musical! Enabling them to outperform in not only dancing and singing,
but also acting, hence targeting 3 major performance fields all
at one.
A true show of talent is what Moulin rouge at Malhar’06 is
all about.
Geetantar a.k.a. Iski Topi Uske Sar is one of the most awaited Indian
Performing Arts (I.P.A.) events. Singing the lyrics of one song
to the tune of another is what Geetantar is all about. By creating
a mélange of sorts, Geetantar will be a hilarious event to
watch out for. Its uniqueness makes it a star attraction at Malhar
2006. So if entertainment with music is what you are looking for,
then Iski Topi Uske Sar is the place for you to be!
At Malhar, we always believe that ‘Knowledge is Power’.
A conscious attempt is made to reach out to the youth through our
Book Exhibition. ‘The Pen is mightier than the Sword’
and we at Malhar truly support this. Thus, the Book Exhibition ’06
will stall a variety of books comprising novels, fiction, self-help,
comics, magazines et al. What makes this even more attractive are
the simply affordable prices starting from as less as Rs. 10/-.

This bi-lingual Literary Arts (L.A.) event is as unique as its name!
The participants write a composition in either Hindi or Marathi
is the first round. Those who qualify speak on a completely different
topic at the finals. This event not only keeps in touch with Indian
culture but at the same time promises to offer a lot of entertainment.
IPA this year presents ‘Subhan Allah’, the Qawwali event
for the very first time at Malhar! So come and let yourself sway
to the beat and experience this unique mix of Sufi and Bollywood.
Qawwali seems to be the flavor of Bollywood in the recent years;
from Kajra re to Tumse Milke Dil Ka Hai Jo Haal; we’ve heard
it all. Its time to test our participants on their Sufi skills on
this particular form of singing that has been around for ages but
just revived. So lets race through time back to past when music
was music and fun… was fun!
One of the most appreciated creative talent at Malhar is our Fine
Arts Exhibition. This time, it’s back with a brand new venue
and an even more refreshing and interesting look. Use of plywood,
wax, nails, and wires makes the FA Exhib ’06 even more exclusive
and original. This year ‘animation’ will also be incorporated
and a genuine attempt to re-create the magic of famous paintings
in a fusion will make the FA Exhib ’06 a worth watch!!
Love to host events? Can you keep multitudes of people entertained
for hours on end? If so this is the event to be..
Participants will be pitted against one another, presenting themselves
to really amazing judges. The ones who emerge as winners get to
compere at the events on the final day!!

L.A. LOUNGE
The crowd surges around you as your tired feet protest weakly. Shunted
about by the ebbs and flows of the endless rush of people that is
Malhar, you see, suddenly, an oasis, a light at the end of the tunnel…
the LA Lounge! Back in a fresh new avatar, it is the perfect place
to put your feet up. Whether your wish is to spark your mind or
simply to stop fighting gravity, The Court of LA is just the panacea
you need.
DREAM INTERPRETATION WORKSHOP
Dreams have always been a subject of curiosity. Thus Malhar 2006
has organized the Dream Interpretation Workshop to give you a chance
to understand your dream and to realize the things they stand for.
The workshop will be held for 2 days. On the 1st day i.e. 5th August,
commonly occurring dreams, symbols used for dream interpretation,
different ways of interpretation of the dreams will be discussed
and a ‘Dream Diary’ will be given to the participants
where they will record the dreams of the next 7 days. On the 2nd
day i.e. 13th August these dreams will be interpreted.
This workshop will be held continuously for an entire day. The ‘Gizmo
Workshop’ will help to learn the working of interesting ‘Gizmos’
like the cars operated by remote controls, lie detectors, ships
etc. The workshop will have groups of 5 to 6 participants working
on 1 object. Person interested in enrolling can do so at any point
of time in the day and can work on the object given to him along
with 4 to 5 other members of the group.
