where the participants are required to complete a series of tasks in
order to acquire the final ‘treasure’. Slightly different from
the conventional hunts, here the clock starts only after you have

any advantage to the home team. This exciting hunt is based on the all
famous “The Amazing Race”, giving you the same adrenalin rush, but
with a different flavour.

The Malhar

help them find a firmer footing through public recognition and
appreciation.
RAGA
Welcome to the
Raga-lution…what you see is what we write. The Official Malhar
Newspaper, we at The Raga put our money where our pen is and bring to
you a collection of carefully chosen, well written articles. Right
from World Cultures and Arts to Fun Pages and Fiction, we cater to
varied interests of Malharites. Including the event schedule and map
along with our very own ‘Raga Recommends’ we make your visit so much
simpler. So buy your copy and let us introduce you to the wonder of
words.
1. Area 51
Ever since Dan Brown exploded on the popular
reading scene, conspiracy theories have returned to the public
consciousness in a big way. Raga takes this further by making
participants play on the paranoia that surrounds these theories,
encouraging them to write funny interpretations of a concocted
conspiracy theory (as almost all of them are).
2. Politically Incorrect
Humour is a keen
weapon, and few things are more powerful than a good political
cartoonist. A minor roll-call will reveal luminaries like R.K. Laxman,
Abu, Morparia and Bal Thackeray. Raga launches a citywide hunt for the
next visionary in the field.
GRAFFIX
As the
Malhar brush is waved to paint 2005’s college extravaganza, we come to
a department which adds a plethora of hues to this auspicious college
festival year after year. That’s right; we are talking about Malhar’s
‘Graffix’ department. This year, Graffix is straying away from
restricting its creativity to just posters but is exploring new facets
of art and culture to design, complimenting backdrops for all the
events this Malhar. Hosting an abundance of 40 steady artistic hands,
this department handles the Malhar Certificates for the entire
workforce along with providing the eye-catching décor in the judge’s
room and the events’ backdrops. 2005’s Graffix Department has provided
a platform for model art lovers and 3D art designers through the
inauguration of its newest sub-department namely College Décor. The
college campus will be filled with manifestations of art and cultures
coming mainly from this sub-department. From the Coliseum of Rome to
the Pyramids of Egypt, from the quaint streets of miniature London to
the onion domes of the Kremlin, you’ll find them all , as Malhar
prepares to embark on its ever promising voyage; ‘Around the World in
48 Hours’.
LOGISTICS
They handle
the setting up of the stages, stalls, backdrops and other Logistical
aspects. They form the crucial and primary link between the Campus
Administration and the festival with regard to its infrastructure. The
dept. also prides itself in setting up the highly awaited and talks
about Fine Arts exhibition. To conclude the Logistics dept. literally
“sets up the podium for Malhar”
SECURITY
They have the brains
and they have the brawn, they have checks more stringent than the
customs do at international airports, hey but they are loved
nonetheless. That’s right we’re talking about our ever enduring and
rock solid Security Department. From the gates to the woods, movement
and traffic to the first quad, these Suave Sentinels will ensure u
have a safe and comfortable Malhar.
SOUVENIRS
Committed
to Creativity- That’s Souvenirs!! Paper Lanterns, Hanging Mirrors,
Leather Belts to Anklets… Souvenirs do ‘em all! It’s that brilliant
ability to transform mundane pieces into the most aesthetically
designed articles that make the Souvenirs Department at Malhar2005
truly one of its kind. The vibrant stall that is home to all the
handicrafts primed, inspired by the theme, will have an intriguing
Global twist. Do stop by and pick up that one special piece of Malhar
memorabilia that fascinates you the most to complete that Malhar
experience!
COMPUTERS
You will see this department working furiously
‘behind the screens’ in the Moffis. They provide complete
technological support and are responsible for the networking,
programming and database creation and maintenance. They are the grey
cells behind our Malhar website and those fabulous Malhar posters.
When the chips are down you can always count on
‘em!
Malhar promises to be an astounding experience
for participants and audiences alike. The Malhar mosaic this year will
be enhanced by the hues of the Fine Art’s Exhibition and Café Vesuvio.
Café Vesuvio promises to be the Mecca of lit
enthusiasts. This intellectual space offers you those mellifluous
Ghazals as a part of ‘Silsilay’, experimental short films as a part of
‘Bombay Dreams’ and that heady mix of poetry n humor in ‘Halke Phulke’
. Don’t forget to check out the Second Hand Book Exhibition at
Café Vesuvio which promises Rolling Stones Magazines for Rs. 10/- !!!
Connoisseurs of art, artists and art lovers can
unwind and unite with art in the ‘Art village’.

and accessible will have clay, plaster of Paris, paints, canvases and
other media available for anybody and everybody to use in the form of
